We just completed our first OpenEdit User Group Meeting. Detailed news from the meeting will be posted on our blog over the next few days.
In short, notes from the meeting can be boiled down to this:
Increased access to work directly with the OpenEdit Framework (OEF) and OEF's many development tools: The most significant discovery from the OpenEdit user group is the level of interest amongst developers and power users to harness the power of the OpenEdit Framework (OEF). During the OpenEdit User Group meeting Chris Burkey articulated the founding principles of OpenEdit which are now listed on our homepage as the key advantages we exoperience while developing applications with OEF. These advantages come from an absolute commitment to the founding principles that live and breath within OEF. We shouldn't have been so surprised that getting this powerful set of tools into the hands of developers surfaced as the number one request amongst OpenEdit enthusiasts. Matt Avery describes the OEF development environment as the Nirvana and we now realize that we need to support this community as they learn the power of working with OEF.
We have been shy about OEF because we first wanted to prove it's value in large scale enterprise grade production environments. OEF has proven it's value in the real world, one application at a time.
The OpenEdit development team has created and implemented large scale Enterprise Content Management solutions that include eCommerce, Digital Asset Management, work flow and collaboration tools, Events Calendar, Multiuser permission structures, etc, etc.. The versatility of the OpenEdit Framework has been proven in live production environments across the globe in multiple languages. The limiting factor has become time.. we can only do so much. So the time has come to find out..
