Programming OpenEdit

This section is for designers and developers who are interested in the technology behind OpenEdit.

OpenEdit includes these core open source components:

	Used to read XML files from the disk drive.
	Used to load all the OpenEdit components from xml configuration files
	The prefered macro language used to create layout html pages. We also support JSP.

These components are included when using the advanced features of OpenEdit:

	Used to search for products and users in eCommerce
	Used in the search module for site wide searches
	Used to import Excel files into the product editor for eCommerce
	Bean Scripting Framework allows you to use numerous programming languages for server side actions.
	Used to create Atom and RSS feeds for the Blog
iCal4j	Used in the OpenEdit Intranet to store vacation calendars for employe es
	Visual HTML editor
Jazzy	API for spell checking
Apache	Use the common-codec to encrypt password. commons io and collection used by Velocity and the filema nager.
