Editing the Layout

The Change Layout tool is used to select a layout from the Layout Picker.

Change Layout options:

* INSTALL - click INSTALL to have your OpenEdit Website download an install the selected layout
Author - a link to the contributing author's web site
Packaged for OpenEdit By - a link to web site of the individual who converted the layout into a CSS based OpenEdit layout
Download - click the layoutname.zip link to download the layout as a zip file

*note - downloading and installing a layout will not delete existing layouts for your OpenEdit Website. Please see Working with Layouts for more details.

OpenEdit uses plain .html files to pull together each web page on the fly using layouts.

Html layouts simpify the maintenance and addition of Web pages that share common graphic elements (i.e., the same top, bottom or side menu bar) and allow your Web designer to:

Upload the graphic elements to your OpenEdit Website so your editing can be done online
Create a recurring layout to generate a new page
Use multiple inner layouts to control the look based on the directory
Divide the text block of each page into editable sections
Create and edit text without affecting other sections
Designate others with their own editing permissions
Easy to use tool bar icons around each content area
