Catalog Manager
The
Catalog Manager icon is found in the Admin Toolbar for OpenEdit Websites with either the eCommerce or Archive plug-ins installed. Catalog Manager is used to manage the products, categories, and catalogs with your OpenEdit Website.
Catalog Manager Options
Categories
This tab will show you your Category tree structure, and give you the options to create and delete categories. Select an existing category, and you will see a new set of tabs, allowing you to perform actions on the selected category.
- Edit Name: This tab allows you to edit general information about the selected category, including:
- Category Name - Display name for the selected category.
- Category ID - Unique category ID.
- Sort By - This is the default selection for how the products contained in this category will be sorted when displayed.
- Short Description - Allows you to enter a short description for the selected category.
- Use the Save Edits link at the bottom to save any changes.
- Properties: This tab allows you to create and edit customized properties for your categories. These properties will be inherited by any products in the selected category. (i.e. Instead of creating a product property called "manufacturer" and setting it for all of your products, you could set it once at the category level for all of the products in that category.)
- Permissions: This tab allows you to control who can view the products contained in the selected category.
- Move and Sort: This tab give you controls to sort your categories within the category tree.
- Products: This tab displays a list of products in the selected category.
- Images: From here, you can have OpenEdit generate thumbnails and medium sized images from your originals products.
- Options: Here you can define options that will be inherited by all products in the category.
Products
This displays a list of all of your products. Click on any product to select and see a new set of actions to perform on that product.
- Data: This tab will allow you to edit the metadata associated with the selected product. You can configure which fields are editable, as well as add or remove fields by clicking the "Edit Product Field List" link.
- Images: Here you can upload an image for your product. Once you have uploaded an image, there will also be a link to create thumbnails and medium sized images from the original.
- Tags: This tab allows you to manage the tags for a product. This allows you to specify certain attributes for a product that it may have in common with other products.
- Product Permissions: This allows you to set permissions on who will be able to see this product.
- Pricing: This tab gives you control over the pricing for your selected product.
- Inventory: Here you can add specific inventory items for your product. This allows you to keep track of your current inventory levels, and by adding more than one inventory item, you can track inventory of specific variants of your product (sizes, colors, etc.).
- Options: This tab allows you to define options that a customer will be presented with when ordering a product.
- Related: Here you can specify related products. A list of related products will appear on the Product Details page when a customer is viewing the product.
- Categories: This allows you to add or remove categories that the selected product will be a member of.
Files
This will open the file manager within the Catalog Manager tab layout.
Orders
This will give you a list of all of your current orders. Click a specific order for more details and actions.
Reports
This tab gives you access to search and download reports. This allows administrators to see what types of searches users are making, and what files they are finding and downloading.
Administer
This gives you access to various administration tasks.
- Actions:
- Re-Index Products: This will rebuild the search index for all of your products.
- Re-Index Orders: This will rebuild the search index for all of your orders.
- Sync to Databases (Incremental): This will synchronize your products with all configured sources, importing only new assets.
- Sync to Databases (Full Sync): This will synchronize your products with all configured sources, reimporting all products.
- Setup Fields: Here you can configure the lists of fields for your Categories, Products, Items, and Companies.
- Export: OpenEdit allows you to export your Product and Category data as a .csv file for backups or use with other applications. Click on whichever data you would like to export and you will be prompted to download the .csv.
- Import: Here you can import .csv files that you have previously saved away for backups.
- Settings: This will give you a text editor to edit the store.xml file for your site. This file contains many settings for your ecommerce site.
